Very nice photo Jenn!
It evokes an emotion of the long journey ahead of us in life. The red Georgia clay clad trail leading out of the bottom of the frame gives one the feeling of the path already taken. The trail leading outward and disappearing over the horizon reminds us of the long road ahead and the mystery of where it leads.
The sinister roots creeping out to the bare trail reminds us that our path through life is wrought with danger and we must be on guard or else we'll be sucked down.
Did you use a reflector or a light-bouncer in this shot? The lighting is very good and the dynamic range is nothing short of stellar.

Thank you Jenn! My own walking path! I am at a loss of words. I will visit often and see where it leads me.
(Ahem) unless you meant this for some other mmadison, in which case, I will say in the inimitable words of Gilda Radner's Rosanne RosannaDanna…
…nevermind.
